Fine Art Poster 50x50 cm / 20x20″
The piece explores the blurred line between love and intensity, and how easily we mistake one for the other.
I wanted to make a comic about chasing highs — told through the metaphor of waves and orgasms, about love addiction and the endless chase for the next rush disguised as romance. I felt blessed to have had so many highs that I’ve accumulated the memory of them — enough to stretch those fleeting seconds into a visual poem.
It says:
Sometimes it’s short, sometimes it’s long — the feeling after the big bang. But either way, it’s never long enough. Is it the intensity of love, or the love for intensity?
The combination of the poem, the visual representation of the fleetingness of the moment — as short as a dust cloud of pigment blown into the air — and the image of riding the wave that inevitably has to crash, becomes a sudden realization: maybe it’s an addiction after all.
If you look closely, you’ll notice the periodic table moaning and joy wave having an epic time at the peak of the wave. I wanted to capture both the appeal of the high and the sadness of the inevitable crash.
