Fine art print — 30×40 cm / 12×16 in
I made this comic while I was and working as a flight attendant in Dubai .
Every day, crossing the street, I would watch the wind carry hundreds of glossy cards advertising women’s bodies.
One day, I found myself fixating on these cards — just looking at all these women’s faces and bodies — and I thought to myself: If I had a daughter, I would say to her, I can’t wait for the day when you will be able to afford to buy someone for a price that you can afford. That world — a world where women could buy men’s bodies the way men have always bought women’s — will probably never exist.
Then I remembered a quote by Rosa Luxemburg: “Those who do not move don’t feel their chains.”
When I put those two things together, I got the idea for the comic — to capture a mother and daughter daydream of that distant future, and focus on stolen female pleasure and the lineage that connects us to each other through time.
When I made the comic, it felt wonderfully fun and strangely soothing — like a small rebellion and a reminder of the world we live in. It’s a piece that’s both comforting and piercing; a visual reflection of everything we’re chained by but rarely stop to see.
If you love this story and the visuals, this print is such a perfect addition for your home — something intelligent, beautiful, and quietly subversive. It prints in 30×40 cm / 12×16 in format and looks amazing framed or unframed.
